Happy Holidays from Nubian Dreams

It has been a long time
since our last entry.  I was on the Explorer of the Seas from Dec. 12 - 21 to check out the ship.  It is a magical vessel complete with an ice skating rink, basketball court, mini-golf range, rock climbing wall, four restaurants, a movie screening room, conference center and a shopping mall.  If that isn't enough there is a full gym and spa with wet and dry steam rooms, hot tubs, pools, a disco and so much more.

So many ways to experience this cruise but what better way then to have 200 Nubian's traveling with us.  Taking this journey solo made me appreciate even more how wonderful the Nubian Dreams experience is.  We encourage you to act now to secure your cabin on our next Nubian Dreams Cruise.  The more people that attend the better it will be.

Finally, wishing you and yours a very Happy Holiday.

We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming event on Jan. 15, 2009 at the LGBT Center in NYC and at our promoter partners upcoming events.

Don't forget to check out the Nubian Dreams Lounge Blog for our affiliates events this holiday season.

As many of you know this blog is mostly to announce specifics of the upcoming Nubian Dreams Cruise, however, on rare occasions we will spotlight topics of interest to our visitors. During our many seminars during the Nubian Dreams Cruise I this past October, we focused on networking, personal responsibility, media matters and other issues. Well this week in television has presented two examples of what we discussed and how it works. First is the responsibility we all have to work together and to network to make things happen and the second shows the pride we feel we it manifests itself.

The first program I saw was CNN's Heroes where individuals that made sacrifices for others. Small contributions that turned into big movements. The replay is on tonight on CNN. Check your local listing for this truly inspiring program.

The second was the joy watching Barbara Walters interview with the President Elect Barack Obama and his wife Michelle. Again, we should take pride in witnessing this historic event. We, the people, made it happen. If you missed the airing last night you can view it online now by clicking here.

Next up, Nubian Dreams is please to announce the return of the Nubian Dreams Lounge on MLK Day, Thursday - Jan. 15th. This year we are doing different programming. Our kickoff event will be held at the The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center - 208 W 13th S. Rm. 301 – Lerner Auditorium, New York, NY 10011
from 7pm-9pm

Nubian Dreams Cruise 2 in association with My Organic Soul presents

Finally, our prayers go out to our brothers and sisters in Mumbai. Hopefully, the drama will stop and peace will prevail.

The NDCI Video Is Released

It is finally here. After reviewing over 15 hours of tape shot during the Nubian Dreams Cruise I event on the Carnival Miracle the final project is magical. Derron Cook of Motionphics Studios traveled with the group and recorded many of the magic moments. This video has so much it is like watching a feature with bonus clips from Alyson Williams, Tammy Peay, Christopher Alan Graves, Kevin Anthony and the Nubian Dreams slideshow. The DVD also has a slide show for the upcoming Nubian Dreams Cruise 2. The quality is outstanding but YouTube compresses the video so don't judge from that. Videos are available for sale for $35.00.

Your New Home for Nubian Dreams Cruise 2

There's never been a cruise ship like this. Enjoy one-of-a-kind features like an ice-skating rink, the Royal Promenade and a rock-climbing wall. There was only one way to accommodate all of these innovative ideas. We built a bigger cruise ship. The 138,000-ton, 3,114-guest Explorer of the Seas offers more space for every guest - plus enhanced staterooms, expanded dining options and exceptional recreational facilities. This cruise ship is so high-tech, it even features the University of Miami Ocean Lab, a state-of-the-art oceanographic and atmospheric science lab.

Take a look at the ship and then register now for the next Nubian Dreams Cruise 2.

This and That

This has been a record week.
  • A brilliant young man named Barack Obama was elected to become the 44th President of the UNITED States of America. So many lessons to be learned. A great campaign, community involvement, the power of the Internet, a little money from allot of people goes along way, perseverance. He won't change things we will.
  • The Nubian Dreams Cruise I Reunion Party - Charles Sims, talked during the cruise about the importance of promoting the NDC2 cruise in small groups. Letting NDCI cruise guests be our ambassadors, spreading the word. Charles didn't just talk the talk...he walked the walk and opened his home to 4o people who came, saw, and many signed up for the next one. The food was excellent, the drinks were plentiful (thanks guests), the apartment was beautiful and again the guests were wonderful. Thanks again Charles.
  • The Nubian Dreams Cruise I video, produced by Motionphics Studios, was completed and was scheduled to be shown during the Reunion event, however, the A/V duplication house had problems and couldn't deliver on time. They are being shipped tomorrow. Derron did a wonderful cut and I am sure people will love it. We hope that everyone will order one and not bootleg them. He is a small businessman. Remember Obama and order today by sending a email to motionphics@gmail.com or call 912-604-6348

  • Proposition 8 was passed in several states. Wow. Read up and write someone. On the same day we elected the first African American President of the USA the rights of LGBT people were snatched away. Amazing. So many African Americans voted for this proposition it is time to make our views known. If we can't have our rights then you can't get our money. That goes for churches too in my humble opinion. For a different perspective on this issue read Keith Boykin's Daily Voice and Jasmyne Cannick's Blog.
  • Time to get on board the next Nubian Dreams Cruise 2. Did you know that this cruise will cost you about $6.00 a day if you start saving from today. We need just $250.00 down payment which will lock down the price(based on double occupancy) of which only $150.00 is non-refundable. Why wait? The price will increase soon.
  • The Nubian Dreams website continues to grow. Thankfully more pictures are added daily, more people are coming aboard, news feeds keep you informed on what's happening in our community. Join the Nubian Dreams movement. Become a member of our website.
Remember if you get the email notice to click the blog link for full entry and pictures.

The Time is NOW!

Please click on the link to the blog to get the video for this an all blog posts.

It has been a long two weeks since we returned from the cruise. The real estate market in NYC continues to be challenging yet exciting. IF you have extra cash laying around to buy some real estate do it now. For more information contact me, Laurence (-: for more information. Even if you are not in NYC, I can help you. I know everyone. (-: I had to put my pitch in because that is one of the things that our survey shows made the Nubian Dreams Cruise so special. The networking and empowerment piece.

So many intelligent and talent brothers and sisters from all over attended this cruise. We ar happy to report that Nubian Dreams Cruise 2 has already sold a significant amount of cabins which is a good thing because we expect prices to increase in November. If you like what you heard about the last one you will love the second installment on Royal Caribbean Oct. 29-Nov. 7, 2009. Get started with as little as $150.00 down. More info on the website at www.nubiandreams.com

Finally, a break from the pictures and videos from NDC I. Alyson Williams made this salute to Sen. Barack Obama a few months ago and we decided to repost it here. She is serious about help Obama and included this video as an opening to her show. We hope you enjoy it. Don't forget to vote on Tuesday. Not only for the President but also for all you local representatives. Now is the time. Click here (www.smartervoter.org) to find out who will be on your local ballot.

Christopher Alan Graves at Nubian Dreams

Thanks to Christopher Alan Graves we were entertained to a wonderful show of Big Band tunes with the Carnival Orchestra on our recent Nubian Dreams Cruise. Chris was gracious enough to welome Nubian Dreams entertainer Ms. Alyson Williams to the main stage on the Carnival Miracle to perform two selections with him. They rocked it. Enjoy this clip. If you like it let Christopher know at www.cagraves.com

Ms. Tammy Peay @ Nubian Dreams Cruise

Every once and awhile a special talent comes on the scene. Ms. Tammy Peay is one of those people. Known for her quick wit, her comedy is universal. In the tradition of Richard Pryor and Bill Cosby she does it all. Tammy has several shows that she performs for various audiences. She can be as dirty as Red Foxx or clean enough for a middle school class. In this clip, Ms. Peay performs on the Carnival Miracle ship for the Nubian Dreams Cruise I group. Because of the adult content restrictions of the cruise line she had to do the clean version and it worked well. Look out for Tammy on Ellen or Leno. As a matter of fact, why don't we write them and suggest they have this amazing talent on. Enjoy part I of Ms. Tammy Peay on the Nubian Dreams Cruise I.
